Youth Services
Mission Statement
The mission of Plainville Youth Services is to coordinate programs and services for Plainville youth that foster positive development and prevent delinquency and other negative behaviors. Our goal is achieved by offering and coordinating a continuum of services, including prevention, intervention, and treatment programs.
Core Services
- Counseling and Support:
- Confidential individual, group, and family counseling
- Crisis intervention
- Substance abuse assessment
- Parenting information and support
- Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support groups
- Coalition for Positive Youth Development
- Referrals and Case Management:
- Information and referrals to other mental health service providers
- Case management for the Department of Children and Families (DCF), juvenile court, and treatment programs
- Community and School-Based Services:
- Kids in the Middle (KIM) after-school program
- Squash the Beef
- Summer camp scholarships
- Staff consultations
- Participation in support teams at middle and high schools
- Juvenile Review Board:
- Alternative to the juvenile justice system for first-time youth offenders
